Wilderness Working Sessions, Day 3

The third day of the Wilderness Working Session includes morning keynote presentations on Global Connectivity, the presentation of the 2009 Kenton R. Miller Award for Innovation in Protected Area Sustainability, and Connectivity in the Americas: US-Mexico Connectivity – The Borderlands of Arizona New Mexico and Mexico and the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor.

The Afternoon concurrent sessions include 3 primary sessions:

• Symposium on Science & Stewardship to Protect and Sustain Wilderness Values (details below);

• Native Lands and Wilderness Council; and,

WiLDSPEAK, focused on Photojournalism and with presentations by Pete Oxford, Robert Glenn Ketchum and others.

Science Symposium sessions (2:30-4:00pm) include: Protecting habitat & mitigating climate change; Relationships with Wild-Nature; Law & Policy Workshop; Climate Change: REDD and Forest Carbon; Agriculture, Wilderness & Climate Change; Connectivity lessons from Mesoamerica’s Biological Corridor; Ecological Services: Freshwater & Mexico; Writers Workshop: learning from the experts; Traditional Knowledge and Climate Change Mitigation; Jaguar discussion groups; Water in Mexico: Caves, Cenotes and Carstic Systems (Spanish session); and, Kamchatka roundtable;

Science Symposium sessions (4:30-6:00pm) include: Public-Private Partnerships workshop; Ecological Services: Freshwater; Law and Policy Workshop; Payment for Ecosystem Services Training; Leadership development; Connectivity lessons from Mesoamerica’s Biological Corridor; Relationship with wild-nature; Traditional Knowledge & Climate Change; Jaguar Action plans; and, Water in Mexico: Ecological Flow (Spanish Session).

Evening Events, 8:00pm onwards The Wild Blue II: From Oases to Upwellings: the environmental services and conservation value of the Gulf of California marine wilderness followed by The WILD BLUE reception, at the Fiesta Americana. From 9-12pm iLCP hosts “12 Shots” at the Fiesta Americana.
